Sal Sidner

Summer 2015 Artist in Residence at the Farindola International Art Festival, in the Gran Sasso mountains, Abruzzo, with local musicians during the Sagra di Pecorino.

I’ve been a travelling  painter most of my life. loving the stimulation of going to a new place and observing with a gentle eye, and drawing from life as it happens. Color and light, brushes and paper are my tools. When I learn techniques I like to teach them, while knowing that making art is a passion which colors my whole being, bringing joy and discovery on a daily basis.

I have received grants from Miami Dade County, and the Education fund.

After art education at Loughborough and West of England Colleges of Art in England, I traveled and taught for several years. After emigrating to the USA, I took further art training at the Academia in Florence, and New York University, and received Masters and Specialist degrees in Education from the University of Florida. I have taken workshops with diverse master painters, and exhibit regularly in the USA. I am a member of Palm Beach Plein Air, Miami Watercolor Society, Womens Caucus for Art, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. I have taught in public schools, workshops, the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, and as a guest lecturer at the University of Miami. I previously worked in corporations as a trainer, as a planning specialist, and owned a commercial sign business.

I have been juried into artist residencies in France, Italy, India and the USA. This year I was invited as a guest artist to United Arab Emirates.
